GTA 6 Beginner Resources and Guides: What Players Should Know
Grand Theft Auto VI is weeks away from release, and guide pages, videos and image galleries are multiplying faster than confirmed facts. This overview separates what Rockstar has actually said from what guide writers are guessing, so a new player knows which resources to trust and which to read with caution.
Where GTA 6 stands in October 2026
As of mid-October 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two said in its February 2026 earnings update that the game remained on track for that date. The road here was not smooth: the game was first announced for Fall 2025, then moved to 26 May 2026, and finally to 19 November 2026.
Some basics are confirmed through official trailers, the first released in December 2023 and the second in May 2025. The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, which includes Vice City, and it follows two protagonists, Jason and Lucia. Pre-orders opened in late June 2026 with two editions: Standard at US$79.99 and Ultimate at US$99.99. The Ultimate edition adds extra vehicles, weapons, apparel and some locations tied to Jason and Lucia's story.
- Pre-ordering or buying before 20 November includes the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Boxed copies at launch contain a download code, not a disc.
- A PC version has not been officially announced; any PC date you see comes from press reports, not Rockstar.
Official sources come first
For anything time-sensitive, the safest starting points are Rockstar's own GTA VI page and the Rockstar Newswire. That is where release information, edition details and announcements appear first. In August 2026, for example, Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which premiered on Netflix on 27 August 2026 and then on Rockstar's YouTube channel. If a guide claims to know something Rockstar has not published, treat it as a rumor until an official page confirms it.
A practical habit is to look for a date on every guide you read. A page written before the move to November 2026 may still describe the earlier schedule, and an undated page gives you no way of telling how current it is.
What beginner guides are likely to cover, and what is still unknown
Before release there are no confirmed achievement or trophy lists, no confirmed heist system details, no confirmed online economy and no confirmed mission list. Guides that present these as settled facts are speculating. What writers can reasonably do is describe the topics that series history suggests will matter, and label them clearly.
- Navigation and map orientation in Leonida and Vice City, once the map is actually playable.
- How the two-protagonist structure works in practice, which Rockstar has not detailed beyond the trailers.
- Heists: GTA V had story-mode heists with planning and approach choices, but nothing comparable is confirmed for GTA 6.
- Completion tracking: GTA V had achievement and trophy lists, including a 100% completion checklist; GTA 6 lists have not been published.
- Online play: GTA Online added Heists in 2015 and the Cayo Perico Heist in 2020, and it uses GTA$ and sells Shark Cards. How any GTA 6 online mode will work is not confirmed.
Reading third-party guide hubs sensibly
Fan sites, video creators and service websites are all building guide sections in advance. Some sites already publish GTA 6 guides information alongside their service pages, and resources like this can help you see which topics players are asking about. Read them as an outline of questions rather than as answers, because none of them can have tested the final game yet.
Some of these sites also offer boosting or account services. Boosting, account sharing and real-money trading can violate a game's terms of service and can lead to penalties, and Rockstar has not published any GTA 6 policy that would change that expectation. Before using any guide or service, check a few basics:
- Is the page dated, and does it match the current official release information?
- Does it separate confirmed facts from predictions?
- Does it ask for your account login? Never share it.
- Does it point back to Rockstar's own pages for official details?
Screenshots, trailers and fan art: checking what you see
Much pre-release GTA 6 content is visual: trailer frames, cropped screenshots, fan-made maps and concept art. Images travel without context, so a fan render can easily be shared as an official screenshot. A reverse image search often leads back to the original post and its date, which tells you whether a picture came from an official trailer or from a fan's imagination.
Rights matter too. Trailer stills and official artwork belong to Rockstar, and fan art belongs to the artist who made it. If you collect images for a personal guide, a forum post or a wallpaper folder, credit the creator and avoid presenting someone else's work as your own.
A short checklist for new players
- Confirm your platform: PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S at launch.
- Decide on an edition after reading Rockstar's own description of the Standard and Ultimate content.
- Keep a short list of trusted sources and note the date of each guide you save.
- Treat heist, mission, trophy and online economy guides as speculation until the game is out.
- When the game launches, compare early guides with what you see in your own playthrough before following them closely.
